Voices from the Roof of the World

Aga Khan Centre Gallery presents Voices from the Roof of the World, the first exhibition devoted entirely to the award-winning documentary series about climate change in high-mountain Asia.

Across the world's highest mountains, from the Pamirs and Tian Shan to the Himalayas, more than 250 million people are directly affected by melting glaciers, mudslides, floods and droughts, and another 1.65 billion downstream depend on the water those mountains hold. Since its launch, the series has supported emerging filmmakers from Pakistan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Nepal and Mongolia to tell the human side of that story, and the locally driven solutions emerging in response.

The exhibition screens five new films from Season 4 alongside Dhye Dreams from Season 3, on loop: women confronting the loss of water in Nepal's Upper Mustang, communities and Bengal tigers sharing the sinking Sundarbans, birds of prey over the Mongolian grasslands, former hunters turned conservationists in Kyrgyzstan, Pakistani communities rebuilding after floods, and a Kyrgyz climate scientist at work on the melting glaciers of Central Asia.

Alongside the films, visual artist Emma Friedlander-Collins has worked with Year 6 pupils from King's Cross Academy on a large-scale installation made from recycled materials, bringing young voices into the climate conversation.

Voices from the Roof of the World is produced by multi-Emmy Award-winning executive producer Andrew Tkach and has won Columbia University Journalism School's top prize for Distinguished Environmental Reporting.

Open daily 10am–7pm throughout the festival weekend. No need to book.
